Wanda Broadway, PHR, has recently been hired as director of human resources for Lake Mechanical. With more than 10 years of experience managing human resources programs for the construction industry, Broadway brings a wealth of experience to the company. She previously managed human resources, marketing and public relations for a large mechanical contractor. Broadway has also worked for Central Florida Regional Hospital as a program coordinator and Health Central Hospital as an independent cancer abstractor.

Evelyn H. Smith has been promoted to vice president/secretary/treasurer. Previously, Smith served as secretary and treasurer for more than 45 years. She is a native of Lake County and has served as a commissioner for the city of Eustis for 20 years. She was voted by her fellow commissioners to the position of mayor four times. Smith spent more than 40 years as a member of the Eustis Chamber of Commerce and served as that organization’s first female president.

Michele M. Alderman, previously Lake Mechanical’s assistant secretary-treasurer, has been promoted to vice president/assistant secretary-treasurer. Alderman has more than 25 years of business experience, with more than 20 of those years spent at Lake Mechanical. She is responsible for the computerized daily accounting system as well as all bookkeeping activities, including billing, accounts payable and receivable, payroll and reconciliations. With their promotions to vice president, Smith and Alderman have expanded responsibilities and greater management over company finances.

Carl Rothenheber has been promoted to senior project manager from his previous position as a project manager. He has more than 37 years of experience in the construction industry and his trade specialty is plumbing. Rothenheber earned his state plumbing contractor’s license in 1982 and has been with Lake Mechanical Contractors since 2003. Since that time, he has honed his management skills working on projects of all sizes. In his new position, Rothenheber oversees Lake Mechanical’s project managers on each assignment.

“The new promotions within our company are a true testament to our hard-working employees and their commitment to Lake Mechanical,” said John Smith, chairman and CEO of Lake Mechanical Contractors. “I am honored to work with this group of dedicated professionals every day and I’m excited to welcome Wanda Broadway to our team.”

Lake Mechanical Contractors, founded in 1945 by Barto Smith, employs 140 people and has completed more than 180 major construction projects throughout Florida, in various industries including hospitals, hotels, theme parks and schools.
