EMCOR Group, Inc., Norwalk, CT, is the first recipient of the CNA Insurance Chairman’s Safety Innovation Award. The award recognizes an organization’s exceptional safety performance and commitment to safety and accident reduction.
Since 2004, CNA Risk Control has worked with EMCOR to help manage EMCOR’s risk exposure. EMCOR’s special recognition from CNA is the result of EMCOR demonstrating an exemplary commitment to safety and accident reduction over the past three years, distinguishing itself in the Construction Industry by a number of measures and programs. For example:
EMCOR has reduced its employee injuries by 36.3% since July 2005, when EMCOR introduced the “Changing the Way We Work” process.
EMCOR’s OSHA Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) for 2008 has been reduced to 2.53, its lowest rate ever.
EMCOR's TRIR 2008 rate reflects a 5% reduction over 2007 and a 45% reduction since EMCOR's “Be There For Life Zero Accident Program” (a cross-Company program that focuses on the importance of safety), was launched in 2003.
One of the EMCOR businesses — EMCOR Service New England Mechanical, is a recipient of a 2008 ContractingBusiness.com Design/Build award. (contractingbusiness.com/awards/design/
