The HVACR Illinois State Association (HISA) is now operating as a support association for independent Illinois HVACR contractors.

HISA was formed to protect and enhance the profile of independent HVACR contractors in the state, and provide a strong lobbying presence with state lawmakers.

“To date, there has not been one unified association to protect all aspects of an HVACR contractor’s business here in Illinois,” says Chris Colditz, president, Laco Mechanical Services, Elk Grove Village, IL, and president of HISA.

“HVACR crosses so many areas and systems of a structure, a contractor’s business can be legally exposed in a variety of ways,” Colditz says. “One of our primary goals in forming HISA is to keep tabs on as many of these exposures as possible and provide, as best we can, the lobbying support in Springfield and throughout the state to make sure HVACR contractor interests are considered in any legislative decisions affecting them.”

Colditz emphasizes the need for HVACR and related contractors to become HISA members. Without members, HISA will be unable to fund its activities on behalf of the HVACR industry in Illinois.

“No one contractor could hope to make an impact individually on the legislative front. While many may be members of other organizations that do have a significant presence in Springfield, HISA aims to bring all HVACR contractors together into a strong, unified presence that legislators will recognize as the representative for the HVACR industry at large in Illinois.”
HISA plans to visit the state capital in November in its initial outreach to Illinois legislators.
Monthly meetings, and educational/networking events are also planned.
HISA’s board of directors for 2008-2009 are:

    • president: Chris Colditz, LACO Mechanical Services
    • secretary: Bob Axelrod, Cooling Equipment Service, Inc., Elk Grove Village
    • treasurer: Bill Fulford, GFI Heating & Cooling, Aurora
    • executive director: Bill Semitekol,    Duo-Temp, Inc., Elk Grove Village
    • director: Richard Hochschild,     American Weathermakers, Inc., Wilmette
    • Director: Bill Baltzersen,     Temperature Equipment Corp., Lansing.
Membership in HISA is open to all HVACR contractors in Illinois.
