Luxaire® Introduces LX Series Units
The LX series from Luxaire features cooling capacities that range from 1.5 to 5 tons, and air-conditioning models offer 13 and 14.5 seasonal energy efficiency ratios (SEER). The 14.5 SEER model meets or exceeds the 2009 Energy Star® requirements of 14.5/12.0 EER and can reach efficiencies of up to 16.50 SEER and 14.0 EER when the air conditioner is matched with a variable-speed air handler or gas furnace.
LX Series air conditioners combine MicroChannel coil technology with a compact footprint, making them ideal for any installation where space is limited, Luxaire sources say.
McQuay Indoor Air Handlers Provide Economical Solution
McQuay International introduces extended-size Vision indoor air handlers. Available in capacities up to 100,000 cfm and with coil face areas up to 160 sq. ft., the extended-size vision indoor air handlers are ideal for projects where indoor air quality and high fresh air volume are a requirement, including healthcare facilities, schools, institutions, stores, and manufacturing buildings.
These AHRI-certified units are available in dimensions up to 122-in. high and 228-in. wide. The McQuay Variable Dimensioning feature allows cabinet sizing in increments of 4-in. wide and 2-in. high up to the maximum.
Nordic Electronics Features Fast-Stat Wiring Extender
The Model 7000 Fast-Stat wiring extender from Nordic Electronics is designed for air conditioner to heat pump conversions (single or 2-stage). It provides R, C, G, W, O/B, Y1 & Y2 from the thermostat to the furnace or fan-coil, over a 4-wire cable. From the furnace or fan-coil to the outdoor unit it provides R, C, O/B, Y1, Y2, W (defrost) over a 2-wire cable. It also has a built-in fossil fuel kit for optional use.
According to company sources, using the Model 7000 eliminates re-pulling of thermostat and condenser cables. It comes with a lifetime warranty and is available at Johnstone Supply, Lennox Parts and Supplies, and at Rheem Distributors. See website for full list of distributors.
Air-Row Introduces Ceiling Fan
Air-Row Fan Company, introduces the LA-248: a 2 × 2-ft. lay-in, recessed ceiling fan for use in dropped, “t-bar” false ceilings. Sources say the fan is ideal for use in restaurants, taverns, offices, retail stores, churches, and any application where additional cooling or de-stratification is required. This patent-pending product promotes energy savings by reducing the demand for mechanical heating and cooling.
AspenAir Introduces Its SlimLine Furnace Mount EAC
AspenAir announces its newly-designed furnace mount electronic air cleaner (EAC) systems. These systems are designed for installation in either AspenAir's thin proprietary housing, or when used with AspenAir's SlimLine RetroKit, and will retrofit most EAC and media housings.
At 3.75-in. nominal width, AspenAir's furnace mount system will retrofit most installed EAC or furnace mount housings.
According to company sources, AspenAir's systems have been laboratory proven to be 99% efficient at capturing harmful airborne particles down to 0.1 microns. They do this while consuming only two watts of electricity and introduce static pressure of 0.11-in. wg at 1200 CFM. The SlimLine model comes in a nominal width of 3.75-in. and when installed in its proprietary SlimLine housing, is only 4.75-in. wide.
SpacePak Announces Enhancements to Small Duct Air Conditioning System
SpacePak announced two product enhancements designed to bring benefits to building owners.
The first enhancement, ZonePak, adds an air-driven damper system, allowing for the creation of up to three custom comfort zones, which work off independent thermostats. The feature allows homeowners to set their SpacePak system to deliver conditioned air only where required.
The second enhancement is the SmartPak System duct, a UK-181 rated HDPE duct system that provides increased energy efficiency and improved indoor air quality (IAQ).
The SmartPak System duct components include: 4-ft. lengths (one per carton); 8-ft. lengths (one per carton); elbows (90 degrees/can be cut to 45 degrees); tees, end caps, and joining straps.
COMFORTECH PRODUCT SHOWCASE AWARD
At HVAC Comfortech 2008, 15 products were recognized as Product Showcase Award winners. Judges took into consideration the ease with which HVAC contractors can apply the technology, and the technical value of the product or service to the HVAC industry. We'll feature these products each month in upcoming issues of Contracting Business.com. This month, we feaature Spectronics' AC&R Kit and UEI's G2 Phoenix Pro, winners in the Tools category. For additional information on any of the products listed here, circle the appropriate number(s) on the reader service card at the back of this issue, or visit www.contractingbusiness.com/freeinfo.html.
