Control Systems Group Meeting Includes Discussion of Protocols, Chiller Controls Retrofits

The Control Systems Group held its spring meeting March 20th at the Hyatt Regency on the Riverwalk in San Antonio. The meeting was hosted by TD Industries and was attended by over 40 members and guests representing independent control service and installation contractors from all over the United States and Canada.

The Control Systems Group held its spring meeting March 20th at the Hyatt Regency on the Riverwalk in San Antonio. The meeting was hosted by TDIndustries and was attended by over 40 members and guests representing independent control service and installation contractors from all over the U.S. and Canada. 

The meeting included highly technical roundtable discussions on BACNet and LON integration, Chiller systems integration and optimization, chiller control retrofits, Niagra (Tridium) framework utilization, and best practices.

A roundtable discussion was conducted where each member gave regional updates on the controls business in their area and challenges they face. A demonstration was also given by member company Chillco on integrating dissimilar control boards using a test panel they fabricated.

There were technical and product presentations by Honeywell, Control Solutions, and Belimo. Presentation emphasis was on offerings and solutions for systems integration. Subjects included refrigerant and gas detection, energy conservation through demand response, networkable interface products, web-enabled devices, gateways, drivers and an energy conserving control Valve.

The controls group is comprised of contractors from across America and Canada representing and/or servicing control and security systems from: American Auto-Matrix, Alerton, ASI, Automated Logic, CSI,  Carrier Controls, Circon, Computrols, Delta Controls, Distech Controls, Honeywell Controls, Invensys, Johnson Controls (JCI), KMC Controls, McQuay, Micro Control Systems (MCS), Novar, Reliable Controls, Richards Zeta, Schneider Electric, Siemens, Staefa, TAC, Teletrol, Trane Summit, Trend, Tridium, and Vykon.

The Group’s 2014 annual meeting will be held in Jacksonville, FL, hosted by Thermaserve.
