A.O. Smith's Cyclone Water Heater Obtains Energy Star Certification

A long time partner of the EPA’s Energy Star program, leading water heater manufacturer A. O. Smith has announced that its high efficiency Cyclone commercial gas water heater line is now Energy Star certified.

Since 1992, the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Energy Star program has identified and promoted energy efficient products to reduce energy consumption, however, the program was restricted to residential water heaters until this year. Energy Star has since expanded its scope to include gas-fired products operating at 75,000 BTUs or more with a thermal efficiency of at least 94%. This change allows
A. O. Smith products such as the Cyclone, Cyclone Solar and XP boiler to now be included.

"Operating at 95-96% thermal efficiency, the Cyclone is not only an energy efficiency leader for commercial products, but for water heaters as a whole," says David Chisolm, director of marketing for A. O. Smith. "We’re excited to add Energy Star certification to its list of accolades."

Celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, A. O. Smith’s Cyclone models seamlessly couple performance with energy efficiency. Units are glass lined and have powered anodes for tank protection. Four units can be manifolded to provide total storage of 520 gallons and total input of 2M BTUs.

The Cyclone product family makes up just a few of A. O. Smith’s Energy Star qualified models. For a complete list, visit http://www.hotwater.com/resources/energy-star-qualified-products/
