Vibration Isolation Curb Features Improved Weather Seal

    Aug. 17, 2016
Flexible 9-in. counter-flashing provides a weather seal while permitting easy access to the isolators.
The Vibro-Curb, from Thybar Corporation, Addison, Ill., has integral, vibration-dampening, spring isolators which may be easily accessed. These curbs provide mounting for rooftop HVAC units. Roofing may be completed at later date without disturbing the unit which eliminates extra crane or helicopter expenses. A 2 x 4 wood nailer is provided for attaching roofing felts.
Flexible 9-in. counter-flashing provides a weather seal while permitting easy access to the isolators. Roofing around spring access ports is not required with the Vibro-Curb. Minimum 90 percent isolation efficiency is achieved with the isolators. They are custom sized and spaced to accommodate the rooftop unit’s weight and center of gravity for optimum vibration dampening. Deflections of 1-in., 2-in. or 3-in. may be provided. Vertical limit stops eliminate excessive movement caused by wind loads and seismic activity. Standard 1-in. deflection Vibro-Curb height is 24-in. with optional heights available. Units can be fabricated to match a specific roof pitch or configuration. Factory assembled or units can be shipped in a limited number of subassemblies to the job site. Typical fabrication is approximately 2-3 weeks. An air-tight plenum package is available which can be factory installed or knocked down for field assembly. Thybar has a licensed P.E. on staff.
