New York HVAC/Plumbing/Electric Businesses Spared from Coronavirus Shutdowns

    March 21, 2020
HVAC services, electricians, plumbing and construction businesses are considered essential in New York State.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has issued a 100 percent closure of non-essential businesses statewide, effective 8pm Sunday, March 22. Exceptions are those businesses that provide essential services, such as groceries and healthcare. Construction, heating and air conditioning, electricity and plumbing services are also considered essential.

    New York essential/non-essential businesses.

The ruling also temporarily bans all non-essential gatherings of individuals of any size for any reason.

There are now 7,102 total Coronavirus cases in New York State.

Eric Knaak, general manager, Isaac Heating & Air Conditioning, and Isaac Commercial & Industrial services, leading New York State providers of residential and commercial HVAC services, told Contracting Business that the exemption for HVAC was confirmed in a call to the governor's office.

Knaak also shared a document that outlines the procedures the Isaac companies have taken to protect clients, community and employees.

    Those guidelines are described HERE.
