PHCC’s 2014 Plumbing & HVAC Apprentice Contests offered the nation’s top 21 plumbing and top 10 HVAC apprentices an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in an event that was exciting for everyone involved. The contests were held during the CONNECT 2014 event in New Orleans, Louisiana, Oct. 8-9.
Local and state associations sponsored their top apprentices as a reward for outstanding performance in the field. The contests also provided an excellent opportunity to generate awareness for local apprenticeship programs, boosting interest in the fields of plumbing and HVAC, helping attract new recruits to the industry.
Sioux Chief sponsored two contestants, Robert Henry (4th place) from Minnesota and Andrew Flores (13th place) from Texas.
“Andrew Flores was one of the contestants Sioux Chief sponsored,” said Michael Foster, director of national sales at Sioux Chief. “He works for R.E.C. Industries out of Bryan, Texas. He did a great job and took the time to come to our booth on a break to thank Sioux Chief for sponsoring him and supporting the PHCC.”
This year’s awards went to:
- First Place: Tyler Arndt, Arndt & Son Plumbing, Brooklyn, Wisconsin.
- Second Place: Nathan Boggs, S.D. Boggs Co. Inc., Virginia Beach, Virginia.
- Third Place: Alexa Serafinn, UA Local 99, Bloomington, Illinois.
Sioux Chief is proud to sponsor the contest and donate materials for the event.
