Building Permits Privately owned housing units were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 974,000. This is 3.1 percent (± 0.9%) below the revised April rate of 1,005,000 but is 20.8 percent (± 1.3%) above the May 2012 estimate of 806,000. |

Housing Starts Privately owned housing starts were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 914,000. This is 6.8 percent (±10.1%) above the revised April estimate of 856,000 and is 28.6 percent (±14.4%) above the May 2012 rate of 711,000. |
