First Call Mechanical Joins UTI's Student Early Employment Program
PHOENIX Universal Technical Institute (UTI), the transportation, skilled trades, electrical, and energy education division of Universal Technical Institute, Inc., today announced that FirstCall Mechanical, a leading provider of HVACR services to commercial and industrial sectors, has joined its Early Employment Program (EEP).
As part of the early employment program, participating employers may offer 20 to 30 hours of paid work experience, consideration for full-time employment, and reimbursement for education-related expenses after graduation. Participating employers establish eligibility requirements and conditions, which are between the employer and the student. More than 140 employers currently participate in the program.
As part of this partnership, students in the HVACR program at UTI-Mooresville, UTI-Orlando, and UTI-Austin can apply for roles at FirstCall Mechanical and start working while still in school. Students accepted into the program will gain part-time, hands-on experience in the HVACR field — learning diagnostics, installation, and system maintenance—while continuing their education.
EEP participants will be considered for full-time employment with FirstCall Mechanical upon graduation. The company offers up to $10,000 in tuition reimbursement distributed over five years of employment, tool reimbursement, relocation assistance, and access to professional development opportunities through the FirstCall Academy, LEAP, and the FirstCall Progression Program. Graduates from any of UTI's HVACR programs hired by FirstCall Mechanical are also eligible for their tuition reimbursement program.
UTI Division President Tracy Lorenz stated, "Connecting our students to real-world opportunities with employer partners is a core part of the educational experience at UTI. We look forward to working with FirstCall Mechanical to meet their workforce needs as they support our students in building their futures."
Full-time First Mechanical employees are also eligible for:
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage;
- Free telehealth services;
- A 401(k) plan with a 5% match;
- Life, short- and long-term disability insurance;
- Up to 4 weeks of paid time off, nine paid holidays, plus Veterans Day for military veterans;
- Company vehicle or allowance, phone allowance, uniforms, and work gear stipends; and
- A $2,500 employee referral bonus.
