Hundreds of contractors and industry partners gathered for the 2025 Nexstar Network Super Meeting, held September 29–October 3 at the Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center in Aurora, Colorado. The annual event brought together independent residential home service contractors for five days of education, networking, and innovation under the theme “Own Your Market: Stand Out, Scale Up, and Succeed.”

Strategic Breakouts and Keynotes

The Super Meeting featured leadership and operational training sessions led by Nexstar coaches and trainers, with topics spanning marketing, workforce development, and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence. Attendees also participated in networking events designed to help them strengthen business operations and improve profitability.

Actor and entrepreneur Ryan Reynolds headlined the keynote lineup, offering insights on brand storytelling and customer engagement. He was joined by former Navy Commander and author Mike Abrashoff, who shared lessons on leadership and organizational culture.

Carey Lohrenz, drawing from her experience as the U.S. Navy's first female F-14 Tomcat fighter pilot, gave a rousing keynote address on fearless leadership. Through aviation analogies, she compared the sales and leadership process to flying a high-performance aircraft — requiring risk management, rapid decision-making, and adaptability under pressure. She noted that like a pilot balancing multiple roles, sales leaders often face information overload and must synthesize conflicting data while maintaining focus on the mission.

Lohrenz's takeaway for contractors and business leaders was to take decisive action with the information you have, lead with integrity, and rely on teamwork to achieve results. “Eighty percent information is good enough to reach 100 percent of your goals,” she said, underscoring that progress and confidence in uncertain conditions are what define top performers — both in the cockpit and in sales.

Blair Enns, Amazon best-selling author of "The Win Without Pitching Manifesto," outlined a psychology-driven approach to presenting sales quotes using a three-option proposal designed to guide customer decision-making and increase average sale value during his keynote.

"The tendency, on average, when you construct your proposals properly is for people to end up in the middle," Enns said. "There's a great pricing guru by the name of Homer Simpson with this line: 'Waiter, bring me a bottle of your second least expensive wine.' Right? We avoid the extremes and move to the middle."

Enns emphasized that offering three choices increases closing opportunities from 50% to 75%, since more outcomes lead to a “yes.” This structure also allows salespeople to shift from a persuader role to that of a trusted advisor or facilitator, helping customers weigh pros and cons collaboratively rather than pushing a single solution.

Tradeshow Showcases HVACR Innovations Driving Business Growth

The event also included a two-day Strategic Partner Tradeshow, live podcast recordings, and dedicated coaching rooms for one-on-one business guidance.

Nexstar also hosted its Annual Meeting during the event, where members reviewed company performance and welcomed new Board Chair Claire Ferrara of Standard Heating & Air Conditioning. Additional board appointments included Chris Parham, Brian Sloan, and Lauren Martin, with Mark Paup, Ted Fox, and Chris Hoffmann serving as officers.

Attendees described the conference as inspiring and immediately applicable to their business goals. “Every one of the speakers and the breakout sessions have been super applicable,” said Blaine Stephan, president of Guardian Plumbing and Heating.

Nexstar President and CEO Julian Scadden emphasized the organization’s continued commitment to its founding mission, following his earlier announcement to part ways with private equity-backed members — a decision that will cost Nexstar one-third of its membership and nearly half of its revenue. “This year, the number of new members learning from long-standing members was a nod to our founding motto, ‘Success through education and sharing,’” he said.

The 2025 Super Meeting concluded with attendees energized to implement new ideas, improve operations, and continue building a stronger future for the home services and HVACR industries.
