Indianapolis Woman Charged After Firing at HVAC Repairman Over $70 Service Fee
INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis woman is facing multiple charges after allegedly pointing a gun at an appliance repair and HVAC technician and firing a shot during a dispute over a $70 service fee, according to local WTHR 13.
The self-employed HVAC technician, who escaped unharmed, said he was forced to pretend to continue the repair before fleeing and calling the police. Authorities recovered a shell casing and a firearm at the home, and the customer now faces multiple felony charges, including criminal recklessness, intimidation, criminal confinement, point a gun at someone, and being a serious violent felon with a gun. The woman appeared in court for her charges on Oct. 24.
The incident underscores the personal safety risks HVAC professionals may encounter during residential service calls, reinforcing the importance of clear payment protocols and safety awareness in the field.
