The Atlanta-based HVACR water heating and refrigeration manufacturer announced the purchase Oct. 1, 2026. The acquisition provides additional space as the company evaluates future business needs.

Rheem has operated in Fort Smith for 56 years. Its campus supports manufacturing, engineering, training, distribution, customer support, sales, marketing, and other business functions.

The company purchased the adjacent property after it became available for sale. Rheem cited limited space at its existing location and the need to accommodate future growth as reasons for the acquisition.

“Our strategy is to build capabilities and capacity for long-term success,” said Alex Housten, Rheem's COO. “This investment helps ensure we have the flexibility to grow in the future, while continuing to contribute to the economic vitality of the community we’ve called home for more than five decades.”

Rheem has not established immediate development plans for the property. The company will continue evaluating options based on business needs and economic conditions.

Rheem said it will share additional information as development decisions are made.
