Arkema Introduces New Low-GWP Refrigerant for HVAC and Cooling Applications
To meet the growing demand for low global warming potential refrigerants, Arkema announced the launch of Forane 516A, a hydrofluoro-olefin (HFO) refrigerant blend that offers an optimal balance of properties as a replacement for R-134a in HVAC and Refrigeration applications. Forane 516A is non-ozone depleting and EPA Significant New Alternatives Policy (SNAP) Program-approved. It provides an excellent combination of performance and safety for equipment manufacturers and end users, Arkema says.
Forane 516A is ideal for new installations to help customers meet increasingly strict regulations on refrigerants. With a GWP <150 and an A2L classification, Forane 516A offers a zero glide, low-GWP solution, which improves energy efficiency in many applications, including residential and light commercial cooling, chillers, and commercial refrigeration.
As demand grows for high-performance cooling solutions, Forane 516A is also an attractive option for thermal management applications, including data center facility cooling systems and high-temperature heat pumps where energy efficiency, environmental performance, and long-term regulatory compliance are increasingly important selection criteria
