IAPMO Seeks UMC A2L Task Group Members to Examine A2L Refrigerants

June 17, 2016
The scope of the A2L Task Group is to review all of the A2L proposed code changes Task group members will participate via conference call or web meeting Applicants are not required to be members of the UMC Technical Committee

ONTARIO, CA — The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO®) is accepting applications and seeking technical experts to participate on a task group relating to A2L refrigerants.

The scope of the A2L Task Group is to review all of the A2L proposed code changes and propose recommendations to coordinate the requirements with a pending update to ASHRAE 15; and provide recommendations as to how the Uniform Mechanical Code (UMC®) should address the A2L low global warming potential refrigerants. The recommendations of the A2L Task Group will be forwarded to the UMC Technical Committee for consideration.

Task group members will participate via conference call or web meeting, provide their perspective on the code, and assist in drafting action recommendations for the UMC Technical Committee’s consideration. Applicants are not required to be members of the UMC Technical Committee.
Interested parties for the A2L Task Group can submit an application at the following URL: http://forms.iapmo.org/iapmo/committee/app_task_group.asp The deadline to submit an application is July 15, 2016.

First published by IAPMO in 1967, the UMC is developed to govern the installation and inspection of mechanical (HVAC, combustion, exhaust, refrigeration) systems as a means of promoting the public’s health, safety, and welfare. Developed and subsequently republished at the conclusion of each three-year code cycle, the Uniform Codes are designed to provide consumers with safe plumbing, heating, and mechanical systems while, at the same time, allowing latitude for innovation and new technologies.
