Maytag's New iQ Drive Air Conditioner Reaches 20 SEER

March 6, 2015
The inverter-driven rotary compressor technology in this model allows it to modulate between 49% and 118% of capacity in five steps making constant, small adjustments. This enables the unit to offset the cooling demands of a home while maintaining superior home comfort levels.

Maytag heating and air conditioning announced the release of an all-new iQ Drive air conditioner — the PSA4BG. Sources report this new inverter-driven product reaches 20-SEER cooling efficiency in all matches and is available in 2, 3, 4 and 5-ton capacities.

The inverter-driven rotary compressor technology in this model allows it to modulate between 49% and 118% of capacity in five steps making constant, small adjustments. This way, the unit is able to exactly offset the cooling demands of your home while maintaining superior home comfort levels. This method of operation results in lower noise levels – all the way down to 59 dBA.

“Contractors will stand out from the pack with this new air conditioning option,” says Tim Alford, product manager at Maytag. “They can offer homeowners a leading system that is one of the most efficient and offers superior home comfort.”

Installation of this iQ Drive air conditioner is simplified. It is compatible with any two-stage thermostat and it does not require a shielded thermostat cable. The unit also includes an all-aluminum Micro-Channel condenser coil for corrosion resistance, optimized heat transfer and increased reliability.

The 20-SEER air conditioning system joins the other inverter-driven systems in the iQ Drive line. This includes the PSH4BG 19-SEER/10-HSPF heat pump and the PPG2GI 20-SEER/81%-AFUE gas/electric packaged system.
