HVACR Industry Alliance Writes a Primer for VP Pence

The letter detailed the importance of the HVACR industry's role in the success of the country.

On January 6, the HVACR Industry Alliance sent a letter to Vice President-Elect Mike Pence outlining the industry's priorities and offering support to the administration in accomplishing the goals in the letter. ACCA, the Indoor Environment & Energy Efficiency Association, is one of 11 HVACR organizations that make up the HVACR Industry Alliance.

The other 10 member organizations are: 

  • Air-Conditioning, Heating & Refrigeration Institute (AHRI); 
  • Air Movement & Control Association (AMCA); 
  • American Society of Heating , Refrigeration & Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE);
  • Heating, Air- Conditioning & Refrigeration Distributors International (HARDI); 
  • Heating, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI); 
  • National Air Filtration Association (NAFA); 
  • North American Technician  Excellence (NATE); 
  • Plumbing, Heating & Cooling Contractors – National Association (PHCC); Refrigeration Service Engineers Society (RSES);
  • Sheet Metal & Air Conditioning Contractors National Association (SMACNA).

In the letter, the Alliance congratulated the new administration on their win and detailed the importance of the HVACR industry's role in the success of the country. The letter states:

"The U.S. economy depends on HVACR systems that provide human comfort and also refrigeration systems that make modern medicine possible, keeps food fresh, and ensures our information technology systems are operational. Our Alliance stands united in offering our support and assistance in your efforts to enact policies that will further our shared goals of economic growth and opportunity. We believe our nation is positioned to tackle the commonsense policy recommendations we outlined and we look forward to working with you to transform goals into achievements."

The letter expressed interest in the Trump administration giving attention to the following:

  • Utilizing Industry Consensus Standards
  • Tax Reform and Incentives
  • Energy Bill & EPCA Reform
  • Refrigerants & Ratifying Kigali Amendment
  • Energy Efficient Quality HVACR Installations
  • Workforce
“ACCA and our industry partners are looking forward to working with the incoming Trump administration on growing the economy, creating jobs, and creating a more business friendly environment," said Paul T. Stalknecht, ACCA president and CEO and chairman of the HVACR
Industry Alliance. "We believe that with a Republican in the White House and Republicans controlling both houses of Congress, that we will have better chances of our priorities being worked on and our industry being a more productive part of the country meeting it's economic and energy goals moving forward."
