Scott Robinson an Ohioarea contracting businessman passed away this week

Scott Robinson, an Ohio-area contracting businessman for four decades, passed away this week at the age of 64, according to Fleming & Billman’s website.

After working with his family’s business, MC Robinson Coal Company, until its sale in 1980, Scott took on a number of ventures, including starting The Alternative and Apple Heating. He had also been a featured author for Contracting Business.

Michael Bohinc, of Keeping Score, Inc., wrote in an email to the Service Roundtable that Scott had been battling brain cancer for the past three years.

“The more I got to know Scott, the more I liked and respected him,” Bohinc wrote. “He worked not only to improve his own company but to help the industry as a whole. He was one of the sharpest businessmen I've met in my life. Our association and industry have lost one of the brightest people we have. Our loss pales to that of his wife and family.”

Many others have spoken fondly about Scott since the news broke, including Matt Prazenka in a response to the Service Roundtable email.

“His sage wisdom and cutting edge ideas were the best, he was one of the first small companies that I knew to embrace private labeling for equipment,” Prazenka wrote. “If you did not know him, you missed a great opportunity. If you did know him you feel a vacuum that has formed with his passing.”

Scott is survived by his wife Patti, daughter Clover (Andre LaSalle), two granddaughters Amaris and Violet LaSalle of Ashtabula, daughter Paige Robinson, and granddaughter Emmaline Robinson-Stecki and her father, Luke Stecki of Ashtabula, brothers Calvin (Fran) Robinson of Edinboro, Pa, Marc (Gloria) Robinson of Kutztown, Pa, Quentin (Jennifer) Robinson of Pittsburgh, Pa, and sister Annette Brun (Philippe) of Bahama, NC, Uncle Milton (Elaine) Robinson of Kingsville, Oh, Aunt Mary Robinson of Durham, NC and his many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Saturday (Dec. 20th) from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 526 West Prospect Rd., Ashtabula, Ohio .

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his name to United Way of Ashtabula County 2801 C Court #3, Ashtabula, Ohio 44004 or to www.unitedwayashtabula.org or to Hospice of the Western Reserve 1166 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, Ohio 44004. The guest book and obituary can be found at fleming-billman.com.
