    NATE Magazine Highlights Benefits of Education, Training and Certification to Industry

    Profiles Trade School and Industry Training Programs That Support NATE Certification

    As fall approaches and students of all ages return to school, the latest issue of the quarterly NATE Magazine from North American Technician Excellence (NATE) promotes the benefits of education, training, and certification as “The Path to Success” for the entire HVACR industry. The issue debuted at the Comfortech 2014 show in Nashville.

    The NATE Magazine highlights how stakeholder throughout the industry use the NATE certification exams and the Recognized Training Provider program to develop technicians throughout their careers.

    The issue begins with how schools such as Texas State Technical College, the Connecticut Technical High School System, and Tidewater Community College, all using the NATE Industry Competency Exam (ICE) to help offer students an HVACR entry-level certification to start their careers.

    Also in the issue are profiles of manufacturers Daikin North America, Trane, System Sensor, and Cliplight Manufacturing and their training offerings for NATE-certified technicians. Daikin brand manager Jeff Underwood Daikin notes that NATE is a key priority for Daikin. “We focus on ensuring all of our classes count towards gaining or maintaining NATE certification. We actively promote NATE externally to our customers and internally to our employees.”

    The “smart” technology sector also provides relevant NATE training, including Emerson Climate Technologies, and NEST Technologies, makers of the Nest Learning Thermostat. “Nest believes in bringing advanced and thoughtful technology to the HVACR industry and we are excited to team up with NATE to offer our training programs to the professional installer community, says Gene LaNois, head of the professional channel for Nest.

    Distributors like HVAC Distributors Inc. recognize the importance of providing training to help customers earn and keep NATE certification. In addition, the issue features partner associations including the Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA), the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society (RSES) and the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning National Contractors Association (SMACNA) to discuss their collaborations with NATE to provide training and resources for NATE-certified technicians.
