American Standard Companies Inc., Tyler, TX announced that Residential Systems. its home comfort systems business, recently produced the one-millionth unit in its new outdoor cooling and heating product platform. The platform began production in September 2001. Residential Systems manufactures and markets air conditioning systems and services under the Trane and American Standard brands.

Dave Pannier, Residential Systems president, described the new design’s success: “The great news is that we’re seeing a healthy rate of return, after investing substantially to meet customer needs by redesigning and re-tooling our outdoor product platform. Our customers—both dealers and consumers—are very pleased with the performance, quality and look of our new design.” The business reported significant growth in both sales and market share over the previous year and during the first six months of 2003.

“The new outdoor product platform has enabled us to attract new dealers and substantially grow both our Trane and American Standard brand share in the marketplace, says Dale Green, vice president, marketing and sales. According to Green, the new outdoor product platform incorporates findings from extensive dealer research. Features includes a polycarbonate base pan, a unique airflow system designed to enhance performance while providing quiet operation, and cabinet louvers designed for maximum airflow around the outdoor coil, thereby improving energy efficiency.
