ORANGE, California — LG Electronics opened a new LG Air Conditioning Technologies Training Academy in Orange, California, expanding its contractor training network and supporting heat pump adoption in the state.

The ribbon-cutting event coincided with California Heat Pump Week, held April 11-19. LG said the new facility is designed to help HVAC professionals build the skills needed to deliver heat pump installations for indoor comfort and water heating applications.

The Orange location becomes LG’s sixth specialized U.S. training academy. It joins existing facilities in Alpharetta, Georgia; Boston, Massachusetts; Chicago, Illinois; Dallas, Texas; and Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey.

According to LG, academy courses are led by experienced trainers and cover unitary, ductless, variable refrigerant flow, and controls systems. Training includes installation, service, and product knowledge across LG air conditioning and water heating lines.

VIP attendees at the opening also viewed LG’s 2026 high-efficiency HVAC products, including water heating and control solutions aimed at improving comfort, reducing noise, and increasing energy efficiency under appropriate operating conditions.

Mayor Dan Slater welcomed LG to the City of Orange and said the training academy would provide career opportunities in a growing industry.

“Contractor training is critical to advancing the adoption of heat pump technology,” said Steve Scarbrough, senior vice president and general manager of LG Air Conditioning Technologies, LG Electronics USA.

During California Heat Pump Week, LG also deployed its Mobile Showroom to distributor and community events across the state. Stops included Sacramento, Santa Monica, and Commerce, where visitors could view products and speak with company representatives.

LG said its participation supports statewide efforts to raise public awareness, strengthen contractor capacity, and accelerate heat pump adoption as California advances electrification goals.
