DARTMOUTH, Nova Scotia, Canada — A-Gas has received AHRI certification for its refrigerant testing laboratory in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, making it the only AHRI-certified laboratory in Canada, according to the company.
A-Gas acquired the Dartmouth facility through its acquisition of Refrigerant Services Inc. (RSI) in March. The certification gives Canadian customers access to AHRI-certified refrigerant analysis without international shipping.
The company said the Canadian location is expected to reduce turnaround times and shipping and duty costs. It will also eliminate international shipping and reduce complications associated with customs paperwork.
“A-Gas is incredibly proud to bring businesses a resource within Canada to meet their testing and analysis needs without the added burden of trans-border logistics,” said Andrew Stride, general manager for A-Gas in Canada.
The Dartmouth laboratory is one of three A-Gas laboratories in North America with AHRI certification. The other two are located in Rhome, Texas, and Bowling Green, Ohio.
AHRI Standard 700 establishes requirements for the composition, purity, and contaminant levels of fluorocarbon, hydrocarbon, and carbon dioxide refrigerants. The standard includes testing methods for new, reclaimed, and repackaged refrigerants.
The requirements apply to refrigerants including chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs), hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), hydrofluoroolefins (HFOs), A2Ls, and hydrocarbons.
A-Gas also operates a laboratory in Stoney Creek, Ontario, that follows AHRI 700 practices. The Dartmouth facility is the company’s first Canadian laboratory to receive official AHRI certification.
