The New Flat Rate Shares HVAC Installation and Repair Cost Benchmarks
Why It Matters
- More homeowners are using artificial intelligence search tools to estimate HVAC costs before contacting a contractor, making accurate pricing information increasingly important.
- Providing realistic, market-based pricing helps contractors set expectations early and differentiate themselves from competitors relying on vague or outdated estimates.
- Low DIY-based price ranges may lead to difficult conversations with customers, making it essential to educate homeowners on the true cost of professional installation and repair.
DALTON, Georgia — The New Flat Rate has released location-specific pricing benchmarks for the most popular home repair needs to provide homeowners with more accurate cost information as artificial intelligence-powered search platforms become a common way to compare contractors.
According to The New Flat Rate, the pricing data is intended to help consumers better understand the typical cost of professional service and installation in their local market while reducing reliance on inaccurate online estimates.
“AI platforms are fast and efficient but only as good as the data they learn from,” said Danielle Putnam, CEO of The New Flat Rate. “When inaccurate pricing becomes the source, it drives homeowners and contractors toward unrealistic expectations. Our goal is to replace assumptions with real market data so the industry can compete on value—not who can quote the lowest price.”
The company shared sample average residential service costs for Georgia, including:
- Air conditioning service and repair: $608
- Air conditioning replacement and installation: $8,548
- Water heater service and repair: $516
- Water heater replacement and installation: $2,493
- Whole-home generator installation: $7,721
Putnam said many low online estimates are based on retail material costs intended for do-it-yourself projects rather than the full cost of professional installation and service. She said the company's pricing benchmarks are based on its pricing intelligence and are intended to provide homeowners with a more realistic baseline when evaluating professional home service providers.
For HVAC contractors, the announcement reflects the growing influence of AI search platforms on consumer buying behavior. As homeowners increasingly use AI-generated answers to research project costs before contacting a contractor, accurate, market-based pricing information may play a larger role in setting customer expectations and supporting value-based sales conversations.
