HOUSTON — National Technical Institute graduated 232 students across its two Houston campuses this month, including 112 HVAC technicians entering the skilled trades workforce.
The Northwest Campus celebrated 204 graduates on Aug. 8, while the Southeast Campus honored 28 graduates on Aug. 14. The students completed certificate programs in HVAC, plumbing and electrical trades.
At the Northwest Campus, 98 graduates earned HVAC certificates, while 65 completed electrical programs and 41 completed plumbing programs. More than 40 graduates had secured jobs before completing their coursework.
The Southeast Campus graduated 14 HVAC technicians, six electrical technicians and eight plumbing technicians through National Technical Institute’s Traditional and Fusion programs.
The graduating classes enter the Houston market as contractors and other skilled-trades employers continue to face challenges filling hourly craft positions. National Technical Institute cited surveys from national contractor associations showing that 70% to 80% of firms report persistent difficulties filling those positions.
For HVAC contractors, the 112 new graduates represent an additional source of trained technicians for the Houston workforce.
National Technical Institute provides hands-on training through labs equipped with professional tools and industry-standard equipment. Its Houston campuses serve students in Northwest and Southeast Houston.
The school offers in-person and hybrid certification programs that can be completed in 12 to 16 weeks. Classes run from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., with morning, midday, and evening options available on weekdays. Saturday classes are also offered at both campuses.
Each graduate is paired with a Career Services Advisor who connects students with local hiring partners.
The graduates include students who transitioned into the skilled trades from other industries. Savanna Bluff, an NTI Houston plumbing graduate, previously worked in the restaurant industry before pursuing a career in plumbing.
