SAN ANTONIO — Nexstar Network brought hundreds of home services contractors, Strategic Partners, and industry leaders together Sept. 15-18 for its annual Super Meeting in San Antonio. The 2026 event focused on business planning, leadership development, and strategies for preparing residential service companies for the future.

The four-day meeting centered on the theme “Design What’s Next.” Programming encouraged contractors to make intentional business decisions rather than react solely to immediate operational challenges.

Sessions covered financial performance, hiring, workplace culture, accountability, leadership, and emerging technology. Members also participated in workshops, breakout sessions, and Design Labs focused on business growth and practical applications for artificial intelligence.

Nexstar coaches and trainers led educational sessions, while the Connecting for Solutions forum brought members together to address business challenges and share actionable ideas.

The speaker lineup included leadership expert and bestselling author John C. Maxwell; Savannah Bananas founder Jesse Cole; entrepreneur and "Profit First" author Mike Michalowicz; hiring expert Danielle Mulvey; speaker and entertainer Jason Hewlett; and economist Michael Feuz. Presentations addressed profitability, talent development, economic trends, and competitive positioning.

Cole challenged Nexstar Network Super Meeting attendees to rethink the customer experience and prioritize building loyal fans over acquiring customers during his keynote. Cole said businesses can differentiate themselves through exceptional service rather than competing on marketing spending. “It’s not about outspending. It’s about outcaring,” he said. He encouraged contractors to examine every customer interaction, identify frustrations, and eliminate unnecessary obstacles.

Cole outlined two principles for creating “raving fans:” eliminating friction and always entertaining. He urged contractors to map the customer journey, from the first website visit or phone call through service delivery and follow-up, and look for opportunities to make each interaction more enjoyable. “Every pay point is a pain point,” he said, encouraging businesses to reconsider processes such as invoicing and payment. Cole also stressed the value of personal touches, noting that his organization called fans to thank them for purchases during its early years. His broader message was that contractors can build stronger customer relationships by investing in the experience itself. “You have to be willing to get through the messy to get to the great,” he said, describing the ongoing process of testing ideas and improving service.

Networking opportunities included speed networking, the Women of Nexstar Moxie Lounge, Walk to Connect, and the Strategic Partner Tradeshow, which connected members with companies offering products and services intended to address business challenges. Attendees also gathered for a Texas-themed welcome reception at Knibbe Ranch, which featured live entertainment, a rodeo showcase, and fireworks.

Nexstar President and CEO Julian Scadden said the event reflects the organization's member-owned structure and its focus on delivering value through education, coaching, partnerships, and opportunities for members to connect.

“This year we presented the rollout of future-design-first thinking in every area, from customer experience to financial acumen, leadership, and beyond,” Scadden said.

Nexstar Vice President of Operations Liz Wilts said the meeting encouraged members to step away from daily operations and consider the businesses they want to build.

The event also highlighted workforce development through Explore The Trades, a nonprofit organization that raises awareness of skilled-trades careers among students and educators. The organization hosted its Future in Focus fundraising reception and sponsored Leading the Trades, a panel discussion featuring Maxwell and advocates for skilled-trades careers.

Nexstar members returned from the meeting with new business ideas and expanded professional connections.

“I wouldn’t change a thing,” said Megan Ohlmann of Action Air Plumbing & Septic. “It’s our first Super Meeting and the bar is set high!”

John Caruthers of Best Virginia Heating and Cooling, added, “This knocked it out of the park. Great social interaction with awesome networking.”

“This was incredible!” said Craig Parks of Rainaldi Home Services. “It really exceeded my expectations and was the best Super Meeting event I’ve had the opportunity to attend.”
