cobee Expands SmartBuildings Controls for Multifamily Applications
ecobee has expanded its SmartBuildings platform with a new multifamily application programming interface (API), giving property operators more options to manage heating and cooling performance across building portfolios.
The company announced the update Feb. 2, 2026, at the AHR Expo in Las Vegas. The SmartBuildings API is designed to help multifamily property managers integrate ecobee thermostats with existing Resident Experience Platforms and building management systems.
According to ecobee, the new API allows direct integration into platforms already used by property teams, bringing analytics, automation, and energy management tools into a single operational workflow.
For operators seeking centralized HVAC oversight, ecobee continues to offer SmartBuildings Fleet Management, which provides building-wide visibility, remote temperature control, and real-time alerts.
Audra Kinsley, vice president of revenue at ecobee, said the update is intended to simplify how property teams manage energy and building operations through flexible integration options.
The company noted that pilot programs showed faster setup, improved temperature control, and more reliable performance across multifamily buildings. ecobee said the platform expansion reflects growing demand for connected building systems that combine energy management, resident comfort, and property operations into one interface.
